Team India gains the top spot in the T20 International ranking after thrashing West Indies in the final match of the series in Eden Gardens. After clean sweeping them in the ODI Series, India managed to defeat them 3-0 in the T20 Format also. A better show was expected atleast in this format from the Windies, However, they failed to deliver match-winning punches. Rohit Sharma has shown his captaincy skills and now, Team India clean swept both the New Zealand, West Windies at home. After those two disastrous losses in the T20 World Cup, India has won 9 consecutive matches. This winning streak has helped them to take the top spot in the rankings.

India looked at this series as an opportunity to check some young guns along with a mix of core team players. Players like Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi have been given an international debut while Ruturaj Gaikwad also had a chance today. Despite clean sweeping the series, Windies player, Nicholas Pooran has scored the most runs (184 in 3 matches) while Roston Chase has been adjusted as the highest wicket-taker (6 wickets in 3 matches). On the other hand, Surya Kumar Yadav (SKY) and Venkatesh Iyer have been the stars for India. The KKR opener is enjoying his finisher role in the blue jersey and managed to see off all these matches with the quickfire, valuable contributions. SKY has been named as the Man of the Series for his 107 runs in three matches at an average of 53.50.

Indian Captain Rohit Sharma must be very pleased and he is expected to extend this winning streak as Sri Lanka is coming to play a 3-match T20 series from 24th February onwards. As Hitman said that all these matches are focused on the ultimate prize, the World Cup. Let’s see, how the new No.1 T20 team can manage to become stronger before World Cup than others.
