Another disastrous IPL season continues for the Kolkata Knight Riders as the knights are sitting in 7th position currently, gathering only 10 points in 12 matches (2 matches to go). Hardly, there are any chances for them to qualify for this year’s playoffs. Despite such a bad season, Sunil “The Wizard” Narine has been the only consistent bright spot as always. Since 2012, Narine is still a mystery for batsmen as batters find it difficult to score runs freely against his variations. He has played all the 12 matches until now and conceded runs at an economy of 5.23 only. He has been KKR’s most economical bowler (even, in the whole tournament) while managing 8 wickets also.

Sunil Narine has been a player, very close to heart for KKR fans since his debut in 2012. During all these years, he has provided some magical spells, crucial top-order runs and man of the match performances. Still now, has represented KKR 146 times and taken 151 scalps in IPL at an average of 24.89. The overall economy has been 6.62 while the strike rate has been 22.58 only. Impressive! During his long career, he was forced to make some changes in his bowling action but, how well he has replied every time! Batsmen from all over the world still look to play out his 4 overs carefully by not giving any wicket to him. Consistency is the key to any format in cricket and Sunil Narine is the epitome of this. It's not a matter of a joke to continue such consistent and economical performances year after year, especially in today’s cricket.

On the other hand, Narine has enjoyed playing for KKR all these years as he stated once:
“ I have always told Venky [Mysore, CEO] that hopefully, I don’t play for any other franchise, I have loved my stay at KKR so hopefully I start and finish here. I think it’s a great achievement. You don’t see many overseas players stay with one franchise. Luckily, I am one of them and hopefully, I can continue to be with them in the future."
Despite KKR’s overall poor performances, this 33-year-old guy has been the only positive spark and without any doubt, he should be considered the greatest player of all time for KKR. Keep coming such magnificent performances…
