SARFARAZ KHAN: KNOCKING THE DOOR FOR TEAM INDIA, FINALLY?

For the last 3 to 4 years, Sarfaraz khan has always been the talk of the town as he was diagnosed with great potential to become a good cricketer from his U-19 days. However, he failed to showcase his full talent despite having chances in IPL and Ranji Trophy matches. But, now it seems that the time has finally arrived for him. His latest Ranji innings of 275 runs against the defending champions Saurashtra has shown that he is ready. He stayed nearly 2 days in the crease and managed to hit 30 fours along with 7 sixes.

This inning was a statement for him as he wanted to prove that his 2019-20 Ranji Season (952 runs in just six games@154.66) was not a fluke. This inning has assured that he is not a one-season wonder. Sarfaraz has worked very hard in the last 2 to 3 years to find consistency and the ability to make big scores regularly. Even in lockdown, he continued his preparation while there is no cricket in 2020. Since his comeback in First-class cricket, his last few Ranji Trophy innings include a 177, a 226 not out and an unbeaten 301*.

Despite such consistency, Sarfaraz Khan has not been called to for the home series against Sri Lanka next month. This has not impressed Former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar. He Said to TOI:

Ruturaj and Sarfaraz deserve a place (in the Test squad). The selectors are damaging their morale by not selecting them for India

Let's see, how much consistency he needs to show to conquer the team India entry though it is looking like it’s just a matter of time if he continues like that.
