IPL 2022: UNCAPPED LEFT ARMER PACERS ARE MAKING HEADLINES IN THIS YEAR’S IPL

In recent years, the Cricket world has shown that the Left is the new Right! Left-arm pacers from different countries like Trent Boult and Mitchel Starc have lightened big stages like World Cups. In this case, team India has found itself unlucky as they have failed to fill up the shoes of Zaheer Khan and R P Singh after their departure. In recent years, players like Jaydev Unadkat, Khaleel Ahmed, Barinder Sran, T Natarajan and Chetan Sakariya have been given opportunities but they have failed to deliver good, consistent performances for the country. Even, this is the main reason behind the Indian Batsmen’s failure against top-quality Left-arm pacers in big stages. In the last five years, India has developed a strong bowling unit but without any top-quality left-arm pacers. However, this year’s IPL has been a great platform for some uncapped Indian Left-arm pacers as their performance has played a crucial role for their respective teams.

Mukesh Choudhary (Chennai Super Kings)

This 25-year-old boy from Rajasthan has been a bright spot for the yellow brigade so far with his vicious swinging deliveries. Despite having a bad start to the season, he has managed his nerves and bagged 13 wickets in 10 matches at a strike rate of 15.92. The overall average is 25.54 while his economy has been quite high (9.62). His most significant performance came against the Mumbai Indians when he scalped 3 big wickets like Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Dewald Brevis at the cost of only 19 runs in his 4 over quota.

Yash Dayal (Gujrat Titans)

Gujrat Titans have been sensational so far as they have managed to book their birth in the playoffs. Yash Dayal’s contribution has been instrumental for that as he managed to take 9 wickets in just 5 wickets. His strike rate is 12 but a higher economy of 9.44. He has taken wickets at an average of 18.89 and his best figure of 3/40 came against the Rajasthan Royals in his debut match.

Mohsin Khan (Lucknow Super Giants)

This 23-year old UP boy has showered his magic by delivering some exciting spells in this tournament. In 6 matches, he has bagged 10 wickets at a strike rate of 12.6. He has been very economical (5.19) while the average has been 10.9 only. In this short period, Mohsin has become a major part of the LSG bowling unit. His best performance came against Delhi Capitals when he bagged 4 wickets like David Warner, Rishabh Pany and Rovman Powell by leaking only 16 runs. Top Class!

These three uncapped Left-arm pacers have come up to the limelight and team India can hope that they continue such hard work in the coming days for brighter results. Players like Khaleel Ahmed and T Natarajan have also found their groove back this year as they have managed to contribute also when they have been provided with playing opportunities. Hopefully, these boys can help team India in solving this long-term left-arm pacer issue as soon as possible...Good Luck!
