UCL SEMI-FINAL 2: REAL MADRID’S LATE SHOW STUNNED MANCHESTER CITY, THANKS TO RODRYGO

Wait for the UEFA Champions League crown continues for Manchester City as they got beaten by a brave Madrid Side 6-5 on aggregate over two legs. Manchester City fans were buzzing after defeating Real in the first leg at Etihad 4-3 earlier week. Real Madrid, having already shown some great comebacks in this year’s UCL’s previous rounds, was focussing on this match fully after winning the La Liga a few days back. And How they have turned the tie!

Both teams started the match in control and the first half was goalless. Due to some chances from City, the Real Madrid GK Courtois was the man of that half. However, in the second half, City’s Mahrez strengthened their lead over real after scoring a fantastic left-footed goal at the 72nd-minute mark. But, Real Madrid had some other plans as Rodrygo managed to score two successive goals in a space of 2 minutes (at the 90th and 90’+1st minute mark). The whole Bernabeu was erupting and Pep’s men were in total shock. Another magical Champions League night at Bernabeu ended to favour of Real Madrid when Karim Benzema scored the winning goal in the 95th minute from the spot. Benzema has now scored 43 goals in 43 matches for the club in all competitions and he has also equalled the record of scoring the most goals in the knockout stages of a single edition of this competition (equalling the record of 10 goals with Cristiano Ronaldo). Ballon D’Or is loading for this guy! Pep has now faced 6 UCL Semifinal eliminations, equalling the record with Jose Mourinho. An unwanted record! On the other hand, the Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti sets a new record after sealing his 5th appearance in the competition’s final. Real Madrid will look to continue their love story with this competition by winning this title for the 14th time!
