ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE: IS A TITLE RACE OPEN AGAIN?

Tottenham Hotspur surprised the English Champions, Manchester City at their home soil by defeating them with a scoreline of 3-2. Before this match, Pep Guardiola and his boys were enjoying a 15 match unbeaten streak in the Premier League. On the other hand, Spurs were coming to Etihad after suffering two successive defeats in the hands of Wolves and Saints. However, they managed to pull out the unthinkable thanks to the masterclass of their main man, Harry Kane. The Kane-Son duo worked magic again as Son found himself with two assists along with Kane’s two vital goals.

The visitors started the match very well and as a result, their new man Kulusevski drew the first blood at the 4-minute mark. It took time for City to get settled and Iker Gundogan equalised on the 33rd Minute. Then, Manchester City had a full grip of the match but, Harry Kane scored a goal in the 59th minute against the run of play. Afterwards, despite so many chances, Tottenham was managing to save their lead against the reigning champions. However, on the (90’+2) minute mark, Manchester City was awarded a penalty for Tottenham’s Christian Romero’s handball incident. Riyad Mahrez continued his good form by scoring that penalty and it was looking like the match could be ended in a draw. But, Harry Kane had other plans as he came up with a clutch on the (90’+5) minute by scoring a stunning header from Kulusevski’s cross.

This defeat could be a massive blow for City as now their gap with the second-placed Liverpool has come down to 6 points. In contrast, Spurs will be super boosted with this win as it will help them to remain in the race of ending in a top 4 position. This classic premier league encounter has surely opened a title race again…isn’t it?
